Spring Awakening was the first musical I had ever costume designed and I was fortunate enough to have it be performed in the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey during my time at Drew University. Our director had a vision from the very beginning about a Steampunk theme for the show so in conjunction we worked together to find embellishments that fit the theme as well as loosely fit the time period of the musical. Because of the fine details we enriched every costume with, this is one of my favorite designs to date.
